Technology leadership for businesses making AI commitments.

Experienced CIO-level advisory, from a single strategic engagement through to one or two days a week, without the cost or commitment of a full-time executive hire. Remote. Flexible. Focused on decisions that hold up.

Australian businesses

You are making technology decisions that need senior oversight. You do not have it.

Your business is being asked to adopt AI tools, approve vendor contracts, migrate systems, or restructure how your team works with technology. These are decisions with real consequences, and right now they are being made without someone in the room who has done this before.

You probably do not need a full-time CIO. You might never need one. But you do need experienced judgment applied to the decisions that matter, before the commitments are made and the contracts are signed.

From a single engagement to ongoing leadership — remote, embedded in your decisions.

Some businesses need help with a single high-stakes decision. Others need ongoing technology leadership applied week to week. Both are valid starting points, and the engagement is shaped around what your situation actually requires.

What that typically includes:

AI adoption oversight

Evaluating which AI tools are worth adopting, how to integrate them into real workflows, and what governance needs to be in place before you go further. Not theory. Practical decisions based on what I have seen work and fail across multiple organisations.

Vendor and platform decisions

Reviewing vendor proposals, identifying lock-in risks and hidden costs, and making sure you understand what you are committing to before you sign. I have no affiliate arrangements and no interest in which tool you choose.

Technology strategy and roadmap

Aligning your technology investments with where your business is actually going. Identifying what needs to happen now, what can wait, and what is not worth doing at all.

Team structure and capability

If you are hiring technical staff, building out a team, or trying to work out what roles you actually need, I can help you design the structure and avoid the expensive mistakes.

Risk and governance

Making sure your AI usage, data handling, and technology decisions are governed properly. Particularly important for Australian businesses navigating evolving privacy and AI governance expectations.

Legacy system decisions

If you are sitting on ageing technology and trying to decide whether to replace, migrate, or keep patching, I have replaced a 27-year-old platform from the inside. I know what that decision actually involves.

Built for businesses between $2M and $20M revenue.

You are large enough that technology decisions have real financial consequences, but not large enough to justify a $300,000+ full-time CIO. You need senior technology oversight applied to specific decisions, not a permanent seat at the executive table.

  • Businesses actively adopting AI tools and wanting experienced oversight
  • Organisations preparing for or recovering from a major technology decision
  • Companies scaling their technology team for the first time
  • Businesses where technology decisions are currently being made by people whose core expertise is somewhere else

One person — the work does not get handed off.

This advisory is delivered by me directly. I have spent thirty years in technology, from developer through to Chief Information Officer. I have replaced legacy platforms, migrated to AWS and Azure, scaled IT teams from scratch, and delivered major projects under real operational pressure.

I am not an observer. I am a practitioner who has made these decisions and lived with the consequences. That experience is what I bring to your business.

Based in Brisbane — working remotely across Australia.

Limited availability — Deliberate.

I work with a limited number of clients at a time. This is deliberate. The value of this work comes from focused attention applied to your specific situation, not spread thin across dozens of engagements.

Strategic engagement

$3,000–$8,000 fixed

A defined scope piece of work: AI vendor evaluation, technology roadmap, platform migration assessment, or team structure review. Fixed price, fixed timeline, clear deliverable. This is how most first engagements start.

Ongoing advisory

$1,500–$2,000 / day

One to two days per week for businesses that need continuous senior oversight. Monthly retainers from $6,000/month. Minimum three-month commitment. This is where clients typically move after a successful first engagement.

If all five spots are taken when you get in touch, I will let you know and you can join the waitlist. I will not take on more than I can give proper attention to.

All prices AUD, excluding GST. Includes all deliverables listed above.

What this is not.

Not implementation

I do not build software, configure platforms, or write code for your business. If you need that, I can help you find and evaluate the right people to do it.

Not a vendor

I have no affiliate arrangements. I do not sell AI tools or platforms. My interest is that the decision was made well, not which product you choose.

Not a report that sits on a shelf

Whether it is a single strategic engagement or ongoing advisory, the work is applied directly to real decisions. If you want an independent assessment of AI governance gaps, the Audit service is the right fit.

Not unlimited

Five clients. That is the ceiling. If your situation needs more than two days a week, we should talk about whether a full-time hire makes more sense for you. I will tell you honestly.

Book a call to discuss fit.

A brief conversation to understand your situation and whether this level of engagement makes sense. No obligation.

Not implementation. Not a vendor. Designed for Australian businesses only.
